U istarskom mestu Sušnjevica od davnina žive doseljeni Rumuni koji tek sada počinju da se organizuju kao posebna etnička zajednica Istrorumuna

Da je Istra veoma složena i šarena po etničkom sastavu svog stanovništva znano je odavno, kao i činjenica - mnogima za primer - da je upravo ta raznolikost u osnovi već poslovične istarske etničke i verske tolerancije čija se vrednost i ukorenjenost posebno ispoljila tokom proteklih desetak, u tom pogledu mračnih, godina na prostorima prethodne Jugoslavije. Najnovija vest s tog područja govori da u Istri živi još jedna etnička zajednica za koju šira javnost do sada nije znala, a koja upravo ovih dana nastoji da se i formalno organizuje.
To su - kako sebe nazivaju - Istrorumuni, koji su se davno doselili na prostor Istre iz pradomovine Rumunije, a sada žive uglavnom u mestu Sušnjevica u istarskoj opštini Kršan. Nauka još nije precizno utvrdila kada i zašto su se ti nekadašnji Rumuni doselili u Istru, a jedino što im je ostalo kao trag na poreklo jeste vrlo blizak jezik rumunskom kojim sadašnji Istrorumuni govore između sebe, pa se tako lako sporazumevaju i sa današnjim Rumunima koji su se takođe zainteresovali za "rođake" u Istri.
U Sušnjevici sada žele da zaštite i spasu od zaborava te svoje korene, pa pripremaju osnivanje svog udruženja i registracije kao etničke zajednice Istrorumuna u opštinskom statutu. Prema rečima predsednika Mesnog odbora Sušnjevice Josipa Kontuša, to bi bilo i formalno priznanje postojanja te etničke zajednice, u čemu će dobiti podršku lokalne organizacije IDS-a kao i specijalizovanih evropskih institucija za prava etničkih zajednica.

Nella localita' istriana di Susnjevica (Vadarsa) da tempi antichi vivono degli immigrati rumeni, i quali solo ora cominciano a organizzarsi come comunita' etnica particolare Istrorumena.

Che l'Istria sia molto complessa e multicolore per la composizione della sua popolazione, e' noto da molto tempo, come il fatto - per molti esempio - che e' proprio questa varieta' alla base della gia' proverbiale tolleranza etnica istriana il cui valore si e' esternato nella decina di anni scorsi, da questo punto di vista bui, nei territori dell'ex Jugoslavia. L'ultima notizia da questa zona parla che in Istria vive ancora un gruppo etnico per il quale la larga opinione pubblica non sapeva esistesse, e che proprio in questi giorni pensa a costituirsi anche formalmente.
Questi sono - come chiamano se stessi - gli Istrorumeni, che sono immigrati anticamente nello sapzio istriano dalla prepatria Romania, e che ora vivono principalmente a Susnjevica nel comune istriano di Kršan (Chersano). La scienza non ha ancora spiegato in modo preciso ne quando ne perche' questi rumeni di un tempo sono immigrati in Istria, e l'unica cosa che e' rimasta loro come traccia dell'origine e' la lingua molto vicina al rumeno con la quale gli odierni Istrorumeni parlano tra di loro, e possono capirsi anche con i rumeni che anche loro si sono interessati dei "parenti" in Istria.
Ora a Susnjevica vogliono proteggere e salvare dall'oblio queste loro radici, percio' preparano la fondazione della loro associazione e registrazione come comunita' etnica Istrorumena nello statuto comunale. Come ha detto il presidente del comitato locale di Susnjevica, Josip Kontus, questo sarebbe anche il riconoscimento formale dell'esistenza di questa comunita' etnica, per la quale avra' l'apoggio dell'organizzazione locale dell'IDS-DDI come anche delle istituzioni spacializzate europee per idiritti delle comunita' etniche.

The Istro-Romanians likewise live in Istria
The Istrian locality of Šušnjevica has since ancient times been populated by Romanians, who are only now starting to organize themselves in a distinct ethnic commmunity as Istro-Romanians.

It has long been known that Istria is complicated and ethnically diverse, and - to serve to many as an example - that precisely this diversity represents the core of an already well known Istrian ethnic and religious tolerance, the value and deep roots of which distinctly surfaced in the past ten years or so, during these perceived dark years, on the territory of the former Yugoslavia. The latest news from Istria is that there is still another ethnic group there, the group that up to now was not largely known to the general public, but which is now starting to organize as an ethnic community.
They call themselves Istro-Romanians, and they came to Istria a long time ago from their original homeland of Romania. They live mainly the area of Šušnjevica in the commune of Kršan. There is still no scientific explanation of precisely when and why these former Romanians came to Istria, and the only thing that still ties them to their origins is the language which is very similar to Romanian. The Istro-Romanians speak that language among themselves, but they can also communicate with today's Romanians who are now showing an increased interest in their "relatives" in Istria.
In Šušnjevica they now want to protect and save their roots from extinction, and are thereby preparing the foundation of their organization and registration to the local statute as an Istro-Romanian ethnic community. According to board president Josip Kontus, this would mean formal recognition of this ethnic group for which they will get the support from the local IDS organization, as well as from European institutions which protect the rights of ethnic groups.
